Residential Weekends
We normally arrange an annual residential study weekend. We went to Glasgow in 2002, Cardiff in 2003, St.Andrews in 2004 to Maynooth and Cork, in the Irish Republic in July of 2005,Exeter in July 2006, Cirencester in Gloucestershire in 2007, and Chester in 2008.
The itineraries for such weekends comprise an interesting and stimulating mixture of places to visit and things to do. The activities arranged usually cover a spectrum of historic, cultural, scientific, literary and social interests.
The residential weekends usually take place during the university summer holidays so that we can take advantage of available University halls of residence accommodation. Transport to the area to be visited is normally by coach, from Carlisle.
As places on these trips are limited it is a case of first come, first served and Members wishing to reserve a place must ‘phone our Organiser.
